Graduation Requirements
Serra students are required to take four credits in science. Students must take the basic classes of Biology, Physics and Chemistry.

Organizations & Activities
Science National Honor Society - Offered to students with an average of 90% or higher in their science class 
J.E.T.S. Junior Engineering Technical Society – Students meet during activities period and successfully participate in yearly academic competitions PJAS Middle School Mentor - Serra students team with grade school students to mentor their PJAS science fair projects

Academic Competitions
Pennsylvania Junior Academy of Science - Regional Competition Oral presentations of students’ projects in various locations in Pennsylvania
Pittsburgh Regional Science Fair - Students volunteer for this science fair at Heinz Field with a display of their projects
Allegheny County Envirothon - Students who participate in this competition answer questions about issues concerning environmental science
Westinghouse Honors Institute - Students chosen to participate attend a series of lectures and complete an exam for a chance to win monetary awards
Bots IQ - Students build a robot to combat other robots, much like BattleBots®
Physics Olympics - Team of students build a project with certain specifications and compete with their entries
