Two levels of tuition exist at Serra Catholic High School due to the fact that the Parishes of the Diocese of Pittsburgh contributes to the running of the school. In the interest of providing a stable economic structure at Serra Catholic, the following is the general School and Diocesan tuition policy. There are no exceptions to this policy. To ensure proper cash flow, tuition must come in at regular intervals.
TUITION SCHEDULE OPTIONS
A. Payments may be made in full by July 1st
B. Payments may be made in ten (10) monthly installments beginning on July 1st and ending on April 1st through registration in the Smart Program
In an effort to keep tuition costs to a minimum while continuing to provide a quality education, Serra Catholic High School has joined with other Catholic High Schools in a Diocesan-wide tuition collection program. This program is called the SMART Program. SMART will enable the schools to utilize administrative staff more effectively.
NON PAYMENT PENALTIES
A. The Diocese of Pittsburgh has ruled that if tuition is not current, a student may not attend school sponsored activities such as the Semi-Formal, the Prom, or Graduation. Student records such as transcripts will not be sent for any students transferring from Serra Catholic High School unless Finance Accounts are cleared.
B. All financial obligations must be met for a senior to Graduate.
C. Students will not have records forwarded to colleges or other institutions.
D. No student will receive a final report card until tuition is paid in full.
E. No student may return to Serra Catholic unless all previous tuition has been paid. The Diocese has ruled that Diocesan Catholic High School students will not be permitted to register or return for the following school year until all financial obligations have been met.
F. Admission to the Prom, Semi-Formal, or any event, which requires an admission fee, will not be permitted if tuition is outstanding.
G. Students who are more than one payment in arrears will not receive a quarterly report card.
H. Registration for school Athletic Programs or other extra curricular activities is not permitted unless the student’s tuition payments are up-to-date.
STUDENT TRANSFERS OR WITHDRAWALS
Since tuition payments begin in July of the current academic year, students transferring from Serra to another school after this date, will be required to pay the tuition due to date plus an additional month’s tuition as a transfer fee before records will be forwarded to the new institution.
The Diocese has ruled that Diocesan Catholic High School may withhold credits, transcripts, and diplomas or prohibit participation in graduation exercises or proms, or take other action until financial obligations to the school have been met. Diocesan High school students will not be permitted to register or return for the following school year until all financial obligations have been met.
