Serra Catholic High School proudly offers scholarship opportunities to current and future students. Under each scholarship you will find the basic criteria required for the application. Endowment Scholarship – Deadline to apply is April 12, 2017.

Awards of $1,000 each will be available for current and incoming students.
The scholarship is based on the following criteria:
1)         Excellent grades and academic achievements
2)         Financial need (completed FACTS application must be on file)
3)         Recommendation from a current teacher. Electronic submission of recommendation is acceptable for current Serra students.

Academic Merit Scholarship for Incoming Freshmen - Deadline to apply is April 12, 2017.

Awards of up to $1,000 each will be available for incoming freshmen.

The scholarship is based on the following criteria:

1)         Application and acceptance to Serra Catholic High School

2)         Academic merit, and

3)         Financial need (Completed FACTS application must be on file).

4)         Excellent grades and academic achievements throughout middle school.

5)         Recommendation from principal or teacher.

Saint Junipero Serra Scholarship – Deadline to apply is April 12, 2017.

Awards of up to $1,000 each will be available to incoming and current students.

The scholarship is based on the following criteria:

1)         Application and acceptance to Serra Catholic High School.

2)         Service to place of worship, school and/or community, and

3)         Financial need (Completed FACTS application must be on file).

4)         Signed form confirming service hours to school and community.

OTHER SCHOLARSHIPS:

 

Arnold & Jean Stein Scholarship - Deadline to apply is April 12, 2017.

One award per year up to $1,000 is awarded in the honor of the late Arnold and Jean Stein, who were active members in the Serra community. The funding of the award is made possible by the generosity of the Stein children, graduates of Serra.

The scholarship is based on the following criteria:

1)         The student will be chosen based on financial need, and/or

2)         The student will be chosen based on academic merit, and/or

3)         The student must be a member of St. Pius V Parish in McKeesport, PA, or

4)         If there are no qualifying student(s) from St. Pius V Parish, a student(s) from one of the Catholic parishes in McKeesport or             Duquesne, PA, will be selected.

Walter & Stefina Ogrodnik Scholarship - Deadline to apply is April 12, 2017.

Up to three awards of $1,200 each will be available each year. This award is a gift in honor of Walter and Stefina Ogrodnik. As a widow, Stefina sent each of her three children to Serra Catholic. The awards are provided through the generosity of Ronald Ogrodnik, Ph.D., class of 1966.

 The scholarship is based on the following criteria:

1)         The student (s) will be chosen based on financial need and/or

2)         The student (s) will be chosen based on academic merit, and

3)         The student (s) must be the child of a widow or widower.

The Bruce Michael Guarascio Memorial Scholarship - Deadline to apply is April 12, 2017.

A minimum of one award per year of up to $1,000 will be awarded in the honor of Bruce Michael Guarascio, Class of 1972.  Bruce was a vital part of the Serra community and passed away much too young.  The funding of the award is made possible by the generosity of Bruce’s brothers and sisters along with classmates, fellow alumni, friends, and family.

The scholarship is based on the following criteria:
1) The student will be chosen based on financial need, with an emphasis on families with two or more children at Serra, and/or
2) The student will be chosen based on academic merit, and/or
3) The student will be chosen based on his/her kindness and community-mindedness, and demonstration of Serra Catholic values.

Richard R. Grandey Scholarship - Deadline to apply is May 1, 2017.

A $1,500 award is available for an incoming Serra Catholic freshman who attended a Diocesan Catholic Elementary School.

 

The scholarship is based on the following criteria:

1)         Above average academic achievement, and

2)         Demonstrates a positive attitude toward school, and

3)         Shows kindness and community-mindedness.

Junior Achievement Scholarship

Ten students who have attended a Diocesan Elementary School and participated in the Junior Achievement Program will be selected for a $3,000 award.  Please apply through the current Catholic Elementary School.
