Serra Scholarship Opportunities

Serra Catholic High School proudly offers scholarship opportunities to current and future students. The basic criteria for each scholarship is listed below. Please find scholarship applications, unless noted otherwise, online at www.serrahs.org under the Admissions Tab or call the Admissions Office to request applications.

SERRA SCHOLARSHIPS:

Serra Catholic High School Academic Merit Scholarship

Up to three awards of $1,000 each will be available to incoming freshmen.

The scholarship is based on the following criteria:
1) Academic merit, and
2) Financial need (Completed PSAS application must be on file)
3) Signed form verifying active membership at place of worship
4) Excellent grades and academic achievements throughout middle school
5) Recommendation from principal or teacher
6) Application and Acceptance to Serra

Serra Catholic Junipero Serra Scholarship

Up to three awards of $1,000 each will be available to incoming freshmen.

The scholarship is based on the following criteria:
1) Service to place of worship, school and/or community and
2) Financial need (Completed PSAS application must be on file)
3) Signed form indicating active membership at place of worship
4) Signed form confirming service hours to school and community
5) Application and acceptance to Serra

Serra Catholic High School Current Student Academic Merit Scholarship

Up to three awards of $750 each will be available to current students.

The scholarship is based on the following criteria:
1) Academic merit, and
2) Financial need (Completed PSAS application must be on file)
3) Signed form verifying active membership at place of worship
4) Excellent grades and academic achievements
5) Recommendation from Serra teacher or administrator

OTHER SCHOLARSHIPS: 

Arnold & Jean Stein Scholarship

One award per year is awarded in the honor of the late Arnold and Jean Stein, who were active members in the Serra community. The funding of the award is made possible by the generosity of the Stein children, graduates of Serra.

The scholarship is based on the following criteria:
1) The student will be chosen based on financial need, and/or
2) The student will be chosen based on academic merit, and/or
3) The student must be a member of St. Pius V Parish in McKeesport, PA, or
4) If there are no qualifying student(s) from St. Pius V Parish, a student(s) from one of the Catholic parishes in McKeesport or Duquesne, PA, will be selected.

Walter & Stefina Ogrodnik Scholarship

Up to three awards of $1,200 each will be available each year. This award is a gift in honor of Walter and Stefina Ogrodnik. As a widow, Stefina sent each of her three children to Serra Catholic. The awards are provided through the generosity of Ron Ogrodnik, Ph.D., class of 1966.
The scholarship is based on the following criteria:
1) The student (s) will be chosen based on financial need and/or
2) The student (s) will be chosen based on academic merit, and
3) The student (s) must be the child of a widow or widower.

Richard R. Grandey Scholarship

A $1,500 award is available for an incoming Serra Catholic freshman who attended a Diocesan Catholic Elementary School.

The scholarship is based on the following criteria:
1) Above average academic achievement, and
2) Demonstrates a positive attitude toward school, and
3) Shows kindness and community-mindedness.

The application will be included in the freshmen packet on Freshmen Registration Night (Thursday, May 2, 2013).

Junior Achievement Scholarship

Ten students who have attended a Diocesan Elementary School and participated in the Junior Achievement Program will be selected for a $3,000 award. Please apply through the current Catholic Elementary School.
