posted Sep 6, 2014, 5:00 PM by Sandra Barbieri
Seventeen Serra Catholic students as well as Mr. Childs and Mrs. Kolenik spent 11 days of their summer exploring parts of Ireland, Wales, Scotland, and England.

The students traveled by plane to Shannon, Ireland, took a coach bus throughout Ireland, and traveled to Wales by ferry. After visiting Wales and Scotland, students traveled by night train to London, before returning to Pittsburgh.

Students discovered Ireland's green landscapes, the medieval castles and beautiful beaches of Wales, Edinburgh's Old Town in Scotland and concluded the tour in London.

Some of the trip highlights were an authentic Irish dinner and culture show, watching a sheep herding demonstration, as well as visiting Blarney castle and kissing the Blarney stone. In Scotland, students visited Edinburgh Castle and saw authentic bagpipers.

In England, students toured the Harry Potter studios and the Arsenal soccer stadium. They also visited Parliament, Big Ben, The London Eye, the Tower Bridge, and Westminster Abbey.

The students had an educational and cultural experience of a lifetime!

In 2015, Serra students will travel to Italy, Switzerland and Paris.   You may find additional information on the EF tour website,www.eftours.com.  Enter the tour number, 1547268ZE.   If you have any questions you can contact Karen Kolenik at kolenikk@serrahs.org.
