Twenty eight Serra and seven chaperones traveled to Europe this past March. Mrs. Kolenik led this trip along with Mr. Crossen and Mrs. Koval. The students began their trip with a tour of Rome, including the Vatican, the Colesseum, and the Forum.

Students then traveled to what many felt was the best part of the trip, the town of Assisi. In addition to the breathtaking scenery, students went to many churches in St. Francis’ hometown, including the Basilica of St. Francis, Basilica of St. Clare, and the Basilica of St. Mary of the Angels.

From Assisi, the tour spent two days enjoying Florence, with a stop in Pisa, before traveling to Lucerne, Switzerland. The group attended a beautiful Palm Sunday Mass in Lucerne and also took a cable car and train to the top of Mount Rigi in the Alps.

The students then took a train to Paris, where they toured the Louvre, Versailles, and traveled to the top of the Eiffel Tower.  They also visited Notre Dame, the Arc de Triomphe, and shopped in the Champs Ellyses.

The whirlwind tour brought them back to Pittsburgh eleven days later with many unforgettable memories.

"I liked Assisi a ton because of how calm and tranquil it was to just walk around and go to small cafes with friends." - Samuel Hails

"I liked seeing all of the landmarks in a condensed amount of time and then we still had free time in each city." - Jesse Anzelone

"I enjoyed going up the Eiffel tower at night." - Nick Lentz

"The whole trip was amazing. We had lots of different experiences. I had fun making pizza in Florence and going to the top of the Eiffel tower." - Lauren Kolenik
