This week Serra Catholic is proud to feature Mr. Anthony Corso, one of our Science/Math department faculty members.  Mr. Corso also coaches freshmen basketball, field events for track and the defensive line for the football team.

I earned my Physics & Middle School Mathematics teaching certificates with my B.A. in Physics from Thiel College in Greenville, PA. After graduation, I received a job at the Boys & Girls Club of America (BGCA) in Youngstown, OH. While at the BGCA, I worked with the inner-city youth of Youngstown by leading programs, such as, Passport to Manhood & Street Smarts. Then I found Serra Catholic and was welcomed into my first teaching job.

My main reason in becoming an educator was to have a positive influence on students’ lives. The influence does not have to be content based. It could be a new way of thinking or strengthening everyday skills; preparing the student for their life ahead.

Along with my passion for teaching physics, I have a passion for many sports. I am currently coaching freshman basketball, field events for track, & the defensive line for the football team. Coaching is another avenue for me to have an impact on a student-athlete’s life. I respect everything Serra Catholic represents as a school and plan to teach/coach here for many years to come. I would like to thank the faculty & staff for accepting me into the Serra family and providing me with the support any first year teacher needs.
