Serra Catholic is proud to highlight another one of our fine faculty members, as well as a Serra alum!  Mr. Timothy Crossen, '81, joined the Serra community in the 2003-2004 school year as a religion instructor.  Mr. Crossen's autobiography can be found below:

I am a proud graduate of Serra Catholic High School, class of 1981. At the time, though, I had little idea of my good fortune. To be honest, I was a miserable student. A friend from those years recently reminded me that I used to kick the building every day before entering…

Serra Catholic High School: 1981

Borromeo College of Ohio: B.A. English Literature, 1985

University of Pittsburgh: M.A. Religious Studies 1994

As I look over my career, I realize that if I were asked how I got into teaching, my honest response would have to be, “I tripped.” I had no intention of going into the classroom, but a position opened up at Holy Cross High School in Covington, KY and I took it. I quit after the first year. Teaching is difficult. Thinking better of it, I went back in the Fall and taught another year. I quit again. Teaching is really difficult. But God works in mysterious ways, and I soon began to desire to be in the classroom again, and this time, I took a position at Our Lady of the Sacred Heart High School in Coraopolis. It was there that I learned the art and the science of teaching, being surrounded by a faculty who was gifted and dedicated to educating young people. After thirteen years I was able to return to my Alma Mater where I have had the overwhelming (and rare) honor of teaching with some of my former teachers and another incredibly gifted faculty. I am beginning my 26th year of teaching and still consider it a singular blessing and honor to study with the students who enter my classroom.

The highlights:
I once sang the background vocals to Blue Moon when Walt Maddox of the Marcels came to OLSH for an assembly.
Received the Golden Apple Award in 2008I have participated in CJEEP (Catholic Jewish Educational Experience Program) for over 10 years.
