Girls Soccer Defeats Shadyside Academy

Last​ ​night​ ​the​ ​girls​ ​soccer​ ​team​ ​beat​ ​Shadyside​ ​Academy,​ ​the​ ​number​ ​two​ ​team​ ​in​ ​the​ ​WPIAL.​ ​The​ ​girls​ ​played​ ​a​ ​strong​ ​first half​ ​and​ ​were​ ​tied​ ​0-0​ ​until​ ​the​ ​last​ ​few​ ​seconds​ ​of​ ​the​ ​half​ ​when​ ​Shadyside​ ​scored​ ​to​ ​be​ ​up​ ​1-0.​ ​The​ ​girls​ ​came​ ​out​ ​strong the​ ​second​ ​half​ ​when​ ​Abigail​ ​Reith​ ​sent​ ​one​ ​in​ ​to​ ​Jules​ ​Marshall​ ​who​ ​scored​ ​the​ ​lady​ ​eagle's​ ​first​ ​goal.​ ​Keeping​ ​the​ ​ball rolling,​ ​Jaime​ ​Dermotta​ ​assisted​ ​Maddie​ ​Carr​ ​and​ ​the​ ​girls​ ​were​ ​up​ ​2-1.​ ​That​ ​wasn't​ ​enough​ ​for​ ​Maddie,​ ​Abigail​ ​sent​ ​in​ ​a​ ​ball and​ ​Maddie​ ​buried​ ​it​ ​into​ ​the​ ​net​ ​leaving​ ​it​ ​3-1.​ ​Shadyside​ ​tried​ ​to​ ​fight​ ​through​ ​their​ ​deficit​ ​and​ ​scored​ ​another​ ​goal​ ​making it​ ​3-2.​ ​Shadyside​ ​tried​ ​to​ ​sneak​ ​a​ ​few​ ​more​ ​in,​ ​but​ ​Ashley​ ​Howard​ ​held​ ​strong​ ​and​ ​made​ ​several​ ​amazing​ ​saves.​ ​The​ ​defense including​ ​Melina​ ​DiMatteo,​ ​Kim​ ​Bodura,​ ​Liz​ ​Quattrone,​ ​Madette​ ​Kusic,​ ​and​ ​Clara​ ​Almeter​ ​all​ ​worked​ ​together​ ​to​ ​hold​ ​the eagle's​ ​lead.​ ​All​ ​of​ ​the​ ​girls​ ​played​ ​an​ ​excellent​ ​game.​ 

​The​ ​JV​ ​girls​ ​soccer​ ​team​ ​will​ ​play​ ​at​ ​Keystone​ ​Oaks​ ​tonight.​ ​Game time​ ​is​ ​6​ ​pm.​ ​
