Wei Mon Lu, a Serra Catholic graduate of the Class of 2013, recently completed a once-in-a-lifetime summer internship through the McGowan Institute of Regenerative Medicine at the University of Pittsburgh. Wei Mon was the proud recipient of the Wiegand Summer Internship, which provided her with the opportunity to learn first-hand about regenerative medicine research and scientific investigations. Through an endowment from Mr. and Mrs. Bruce Wiegand, as well as friends and supporters of the McGowan Institute of Regenerative Medicine, Wei Mon was able to spend four weeks learning more about medicine under the mentorship of Dr. Kacey Marra at the Institute's Plastic Surgery Lab.

This fall, Wei Mon is attending Carnegie Mellon University. For more information, you may click here and view page 10 of the McGowan Institute for Regenerative Medicine's August 2013 newsletter. Congratulations, Wei Mon!
