Students in Señora Fox’s Spanish 2, level 5 class are currently embarking on a journey through history, culture, and language. Students are reading La Gran Aventura de Alejandro, a novel written in Spanish for students learning to speak Spanish. In the book, Alejandro and his family, who are from Mexico, are travelling to Spain. While in Spain, Alejandro receives a magic ring, which transports him back in time to cultural and historical events in Spain. Alejandro meets characters such as Don Quijote de la Mancha, el Cid, the princess from the famous painting of “Las meninas” by Diego Velázquez, and Doña Juana la Loca. These characters present Alejandro, and students in Spanish 2, with snippets of Spain’s rich history and culture.
