Annual Events
Annual Events at Serra Catholic High School
Throughout the year, we take time as a school to participate in a number of activities that showcase our school spirit and community involvement. These events and special traditions are an important part of life as an Eagle. These include:
Homecoming
Homecoming Week gives students a chance to show off their creativity with fun dress-down themes throughout the week. Other activities include a special treat, such as an ice cream or pretzel truck during lunches, and a sports tournament like dodgeball or volleyball. The week culminates with our Walk-a-thon during the day and our Football game in the evening. During halftime of the game, the Homecoming King and Queen are crowned.
Walk-a-Thon
Our annual Walk-a-thon is centered around giving back to an organization close to Serra Catholic that is doing good work in our community. Our beneficiaries have included Beverly’s Birthdays, Young People Who Care, the Samantha Kalkbrenner Memorial Scholarship, and more. The walk begins at Serra Catholic and travels down through Renzie Park for the annual “touch the tank” photos.
Spring Musical
The vocal and dancing talents of our students are on full display during the annual Spring Musical. We also have a lot of talent working behind-the-scenes with our dedicated crew members. Recent shows have included “Little Shop of Horrors,” “The Addams Family,” “Beauty and the Beast,” “The Little Mermaid,” “Peter Pan,” and more. The cast and crew are always excited to share these talents with the larger community.
Catholic Schools Week
Catholic Schools Week is a special opportunity to celebrate the faith, learning, and community at the heart of Serra Catholic. This week is another one filled with theme dress days, a Student Appreciation Day, and a Teacher and Staff Appreciation Day.
Semi-Formal Dance
The semi-formal dance, which takes place in December each year, gives students an opportunity to dress up, enjoy an evening with friends, and make memories together outside the classroom.
Prom
Prom gives students another opportunity to dress up and celebrate, with special meaning as the final dance for our graduating class each year. Before the dance, attendees participate in our annual Promenade, giving parents, grandparents, relatives, and friends a chance to see everyone in their finery. The Prom King and Queen are crowned as the conclusion of Promenade.
