JUNIOR/SENIOR PROM
Friday, May 2, 2025, from 6:00 p.m. – 10:00 p.m. at Veltre’s Wedding & Event Centre, Plum, PA
Mrs. Koval and the prom committee will advise students of specific procedures to be followed for the event. The school policy regulating school activities will be in place and followed throughout the evening. No students will be permitted to attend the prom without a ticket purchased from the school. If there is any evidence of alcohol use or intoxication among students attending the prom, the students will be detained, and the police and parents will be notified immediately; breathalyzers may be used. All students and their guests must abide by the prom regulations, which will be distributed to students along with parent permission forms. Parents of both students and student guests will sign these permission forms. The prom will conclude promptly at 10:00 p.m. Promenade will be held in the school gym at 4:00 p.m. Students must report to the cafeteria by 3:30 p.m. to line up. Everyone is welcome to attend the promenade.

Exams for seniors will include two testing periods each day. Each of the testing periods will be two periods long (1 hour and 20 minutes) unless noted below. Seniors are to report to the cafeteria if they arrive before the scheduled exam. Attendance will be taken at the beginning of each exam period. Seniors requesting to take an exam other than their scheduled period must have an Administrator’s approval.

GRADUATION PRACTICE

Seniors are expected to arrive at Serra at 8:00 a.m. and be in uniform. Students should enter the building through the cafeteria. Dismissal will be around 9:30 a.m. Once we confirm that Chromebooks/chargers and books were returned, students will receive their Caps/Gowns. IMPORTANT: No senior will receive his/her cap and gown unless tuition payments are up to date, all fees, past due books, and activities costs (band fees, cafeteria charges, etc.) are current. Questions in this regard should be directed to Ms. Fedor in the Business Office at [email protected] or 412-751-2020 ex. 109. Please note that the top of the cap should NOT be decorated. That is something that is done in college.

Seniors are expected to assemble in the hall directly below the Cathedral no later than 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 28th. At that time, students will be given final instructions and the opportunity to adjust dress and makeup for photographs. Parents are not to be present with the seniors at this time. Opportunity for photographs will be provided during and after the commencement ceremony. Balloons are not permitted at Saint Paul Cathedral.

PARKING AT SAINT PAUL CATHEDRAL
On the day of graduation, parents and guests of the graduates may park their vehicles in the lots adjacent to the Cathedral and at Oakland Catholic High School parking lot.
SEATING AT THE CATHEDRAL
A section is reserved for the graduates and faculty. Guest seating is on a first come first serve basis.
We ask for your cooperation in allowing parents to sit as close to the graduates as possible.
STUDENT DRESS AT GRADUATION
On the day of graduation, male students should wear black or dark pants, a light-colored dress shirt, and a tie. Female students may wear a dress, skirt or dark colored dress pants with a nice blouse. As a school function, students should follow the dress code in terms of appearance including no facial hair, no piercings other than the ear and no unnatural hair colors. Shorts, flip flips, slides and crocs are not permitted. All piercings in violation of the rules above must be removed. If they can't be removed, then a band-aid will be given to cover them up. ***No other stoles or accessories are to be worn other than what is given by Serra Catholic HS.
PHOTOGRAPHS AND VIDEOS
Given the solemnity of this occasion, and especially since graduation will be taking place in the Cathedral, guests will not be permitted in the front aisles to take photographs or videos. A School Photographer will be available to videotape the Liturgy and Graduation Ceremony. If you are interested in obtaining a copy of the tape an order form will be in your child’s graduation packet. Photographs may be taken outside of the Cathedral and inside during the ceremony from your pews. No one will be permitted to enter the Sanctuary or front aisle during the services. Your complete cooperation is asked to preserve the solemnity of the moment and assist in keeping distractions to a minimum.
FOLLOWING THE COMMENCEMENT CEREMONY
It is expected that the Commencement Ceremony will last approximately two and a half hours. Guests may meet up with their graduate on the side lawn of the Cathedral following graduation.

Prior to final exams, seniors are required to pay the graduation fee of $135. This fee should be sent to the school office and mark it to the attention of Ms. Fedor in the Business Office. The deadline to submit this fee is May 22nd. This fee pays for caps and gowns, graduation expenses, the choir, use of the Cathedral, and awards distributed at Graduation.

According to the Diocesan and School Policy, no student will be permitted to attend Graduation unless all accounts are rectified; this includes past-due fees (Band, Sports, Cafeteria charges, etc.). THERE WILL BE NO EXCEPTION TO THIS POLICY. No personal checks will be accepted after May 15th. After that date, payments must be by certified bank check, cashier’s check, or cash.

FINAL REPORT CARDS AND FINAL TRANSCRIPTS
REPORT CARDS will be emailed to you. Please review and notify Mrs. Atkinson of any discrepancies. Once grades are posted to the Transcript NO grade can be changed.
FINAL TRANSCRIPTS: All outstanding fees, including tuition, bus, cafeteria charges, past due books, activities costs, band etc. must be up to date and/or turned in before FINAL TRANSCRIPTS are sent to colleges or post-secondary schools. Questions regarding outstanding financial obligations should be directed to Ms. Fedor in the Finance Office (412-751-2020 ex. 109). Please note seniors MUST submit a request to Mrs. Atkinson for the final transcript to be sent to the college or post-secondary school they are attending. This request should be made via email [email protected] Final transcripts will be submitted electronically the week of June 16th. Final transcripts will not be submitted before that date.
