Serra Catholic High School proudly offers scholarship opportunities to current and future students. Under each scholarship you will find the basic criteria required for the application. Please find scholarship applications, online at www.serrahs.org under the Admissions Tab or call the Admissions Office to request applications.
SERRA CATHOLIC SCHOLARSHIPS:
Deadline for Serra Scholarships: Wednesday, March 15, 2023
Awards of $1,000 each will be available for current and incoming students.

The above scholarships are based on the following criteria:
- Incoming freshmen must have applied and been accepted to Serra Catholic.
- Must have an “A” average, no grade lower than an 85%.
- Demonstrated financial need; completed FACTS application must be on file.
- Recommendation from a current teacher or principal. Electronic submission of recommendation is acceptable for current Serra students.
Saint Junipero Serra Scholarship
Awards of $1,000 each will be available to incoming and current students.
This scholarship is based on the following criteria:
- Incoming freshmen must have applied and been accepted to Serra Catholic.
- Service to place of worship, school and/or community; signed form confirming service hours.
- Demonstrated financial need; completed FACTS application must be on file.

Arnold & Jean Stein Scholarship
One award per year up to $1,000 is awarded in the honor of the late Arnold and Jean Stein, who were active members in the Serra community. The funding of the award is made possible by the generosity of the Stein children, graduates of Serra.
This scholarship is based on the following criteria:
- The student(s) must be a member of Corpus Christ Parish in McKeesport, PA.
- If there are no qualifying student(s) from Corpus Christi Parish, a student (s) from a Catholic parish in McKeesport or Duquesne, PA will be selected.
- Academic merit: “A” averages no grade below 85% and demonstrated financial need; completed FACTS application must be on file.
Walter & Stefina Ogrodnik Scholarship
Up to three awards of $1,200 each will be available each year. This award is a gift in honor of Walter and Stefina Ogrodnik. As a widow, Stefina sent each of her three children to Serra Catholic. The awards are provided through the generosity of Ronald Ogrodnik, Ph.D., Class of 1966.
This scholarship is based on the following criteria:
- The student (s) must be the child of a widow or widower.
- Academic merit: “A” averages no grade below 85% and demonstrated financial need; completed FACTS application must be on file.
The Bruce Michael Guarascio Memorial Scholarship
A minimum of one award per year of up to $1,000 will be awarded in the honor of Bruce Michael Guarascio, Class of 1972. Bruce was a vital part of the Serra community and passed away much too young. The funding of the award is made possible by the generosity of Bruce’s brothers and sisters along with classmates, fellow alumni, friends, and family.
The scholarship is based on the following criteria:

Demonstrated financial need with emphasis on families with two or more children; completed FACTS application must be on file.

Student’s demonstrate kindness, community-mindedness, and Serra Catholic values.

Academic merit: “A” averages no grade below 85%.
INCOMING FRESHMEN ONLY
Ryan Malady Memorial Scholarship: May 1, 2023
This scholarship is presented in the name of Ryan Malady, a 1993 graduate of Serra Catholic High School. Family members have shared that, “Ryan treasured his time at Serra. The friends he made, the experiences he had and the education he received lived on with him to the very end and after.”
The scholarship is based on the following criteria:

Incoming freshmen must have applied and been accepted to Serra Catholic.

Demonstrated financial need; completed FACTS application must be on file.

Member of a Catholic parish and a completed Pastor Verification Form on file.

Recommendation from a current teacher or principal.
